Link Hijacking

Direct Digital Testimonial Influence Clickjacking Manipulation FBI The Girl Next Door The Raven
The FBI hijacks a link on my Android phone.

Compromise

SIGNAL

The Girl Next Door plugs an ad for Dollar Shave Club. - @0:00

ANALYSIS

For whatever reason, I was driven to click her affiliate link. This is something I never do with advertisements.

Immediately following, Google Assistant opened up on my phone. The URL, however, did not.

Quite simply, the FBI was showing me that, yes, they can and do compromise phones through URL handlers.

ACTION

As alluded to here, I purchased a new phone in response.

A romantic story

SIGNAL

In response to a telephone call, The Girl Next Door says, “I truly abhor telephones. I wish we lived in a pre Graham-Bell era where people just wrote letters, and just waited for a message back. I mean, it was a far more romantic era, where silence was key.” - @6:37

ANALYSIS

This could be a subtle clue calling attention to the romance of my story. Rather than approaching The Raven directly, I spent a long time “writing letters,” in the hope that she would respond in due time.
