A distant family member responds to a message in a novel way.

The Booming Voice

ACTION

On 6/19/2020, I sent an email to my cousin, “The Voice”.

SIGNAL

On 7/20/2020, Rock sent the following message via proxy:

Rock DM

ANALYSIS

This message is meaningful. The fact that he capitalized “Voice” indicates that he is speaking about my cousin, “The Voice.” This cousin worked in broadcast radio years ago. I remember his “Booming Voice” well. I told The Ghost, “We do not remember his broadcast name.”

The capitalization of this message struck me as meaningful, though. After a few hours of thinking about it, I remembered my cousin’s radio name:

He was called “The Beav.” “BeaV.” “BV.” “Booming Voice.”

It was a subtle hint, but one that triggered a memory of a name that I had long forgotten.

ACTION

Not wanting to blow his cover, I didn’t add this alias to his confidant page. I did, however, add the song “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver” to his page. If he was watching, he’d understand.

SIGNAL

The next day, The Ghost responded, “Did.”

ANALYSIS

This essentially modified my original statement. Rather than “we do not remember his broadcast name,” he changed it to “we did not remember his broadcast name.” Past tense.

Without speaking openly, I had established a line of communication like the one described here.

This is precisely why this system of communication is so difficult to trace. It requires an inordinate amount of context.
