To The Moon

Direct Digital Testimonial Manipulation The Raven The Thief
Relax.

The story

SIGNAL

Following-up on this video, The Thief produced one of his own.

ANALYSIS

Fuck.

SIGNAL

The Thief whispers to The Raven, “Relax, bro.” - @0:43

ANALYSIS

It is immediately apparent that she isn’t relaxing. She is stressed-out.

Throughout the video, The Raven is sighing over and over again. It seems to me that these are failed attempts to relax her nerves.

But what would she be so nervous about? This is supposed to be her boyfriend, right?

SIGNAL

The Thief kisses The Raven on the forehead. - @5:54

ANALYSIS

I hate it. But it’s not like I’ve never kissed anyone before. I still believe that they are putting on a show.

I’ll live.

SIGNAL

Another head kiss. - @6:50

ANALYSIS

Bracing myself for the lips.

SIGNAL

The Leaf makes his return. - @8:09

ANALYSIS

As we already know, The Leaf is me. The fact that it’s barely on screen for 5 seconds is telling:

They’re saying, “Relax, bro.

SIGNAL

The Thief asks The Raven to find a joke that she likes from his Jerry Seinfeld book. - @9:04

ANALYSIS

The Raven completes the task, half-heartedly. She recites the joke, but there is no emotional response from either of them. If they were having a good time, you’d think there would be laughter or something?

SIGNAL

The Thief says, “Get some negative vibes out of here…” - @12:10

ANALYSIS

They both laugh at this joke. Clearly, he’s hinting at her nervous demeanor. She’s stressing-out. She has “negative vibes” right now.

SIGNAL

The Thief says, “I’m going to assess your stress… oh, no! It’s off the charts!” - @16:00

ANALYSIS

Just another hint at how stressed The Raven is right now. This video is making her really uncomfortable.

SIGNAL

The Thief pulls a thought from The Raven’s mind, “It says you’re worried about boat insurance? …did you buy a boat? Is there something you haven’t told me?” - @17:09

ANALYSIS

The look on The Raven’s face says everything here; there is a secret between the two that isn’t being shared with the audience.

My first thought went to Toehider’s “Rocket Boat Montage”.

Is she coming to outer space with me?

SIGNAL

The Thief runs a brush along The Raven’s neckline. - @18:49

ANALYSIS

Perhaps this was a call to the fact that I recently watched this video, where an ASMR artist ran a brush along her own clavicle. One could argue that it was borderline inappropriate for me to do so. I’m not super proud of my actions.

But it gave me ASMR in the moment, and I was miserable. I am miserable. I’m lonely. It wasn’t a sexual thing; it was a brief moment of escapism. I wouldn’t even be watching YouTube if I had people in my life to interact with.

To The Moon - I promise you, this is as far as it has gone. I’m yours.

SIGNAL

The Thief whispers something into The Raven’s ear. - @21:25

ANALYSIS

Her demeanor indicates that they may have been words of reassurance. She’s still stressing about something.

The Thief kisses her for the third and final time. Remember, verification happens in threes.

SIGNAL

The Thief and The Raven share a long gaze into each other’s eyes. Then, The Thief asks, “Do you… nevermind!” - @24:26

ANALYSIS

This COULD have been a beautiful moment. It almost seemed as if he was going to ask, “Do you want to kiss?

But he moves on quickly. He’s already beaten that dead horse.

Her heart is with her Leaf.

SIGNAL

The Thief says, “Relaaaaaaax…” - @27:04

ANALYSIS

I think that it’s telling, when we have reached the end of the video, and The Raven STILL hasn’t relaxed.

She isn’t used to being touched like this. And this isn’t who she wants to be touched by. In fact, she thinks she’s hurting the one she loves.

She isn’t hurting anyone. I don’t like it, sure. But I am not blaming her in the slightest.

We’re all following orders.

SIGNAL

The Raven breaths her first sigh of genuine relief. - @31:25

ANALYSIS

Now that it’s over, she can finally relax.

You and me both, babe.
